Could someone tell me why Rtings is wrong, and I should just get the Sony? I love Sony, but I am leaning HEAVILY toward the TCL. Rtings says the TCL has "some black smearing with fast-moving content." This isn't super concerning, as the "Motion" scores for the TCL beat my old display, and I had no issues with that.Īdd the fact that the TCL supports HDR10+, comes with VRR out of the box, and is ~$300 cheaper.
Rtings says of the Sony display, "there's a bit of stuttering in movies due to the fast response time." This is VERY concerning, as is the Sony's poor reflection handling. But the TCL scores much higher in Contrast, SDR & HDR Brightness, Gray Uniformity, Reflections, Color Gamut, and Color Volume. The Sony scores higher marks for Local Dimming, Gradient, and Temporary Image Retention. I am biased toward Sony, but the Rtings results are making me seriously consider the cheaper TCL. I'm mostly watching TV, Sports, Netflix/Disney+, and 4K Blu-Ray, with some gaming here and there.
